INSTRUCTIONS ON RESOLVING SOUND CARD CONFLICTS WHEN PARALLEL PORT CHANGED TO 0278-027F ADDRESS RANGE Question: I have installed the Lava Parallel PCI card into my computer with Windows 9x and it installed perfectly fine. I then noticed from your documentation that the non-printer device that I was attaching to the Lava Parallel PCI card needed the 0278 - 027F address range. So I went to Device Manager and adjusted the Lava Parallel PCI to that address range. After I did that my sound card had problems! What should I do? Answer: When setting our card to the 0278 - 027F address range sometimes it knocks out various sound cards. The solution to the problem varies according to which device you are attaching to our card. The following is list of various solutions. Scanners and SyQuest external drives a) Remove your OnBoard Parallel Port(LPT1) and the Lava Parallel PCI from Device Manager. b) Shut down your computer normally, restart and enter your BIOS setup. c) Change your OnBoard Parallel Port from 0378 to 0278. d) Save your changes and enter Win9x. Let Win9x reinstall your OnBoard Parallel Port and the Lava Card. e) Change the Lava Parallel PCI to 0378 - 037F. f) Add the following to the Adapter Settings for the SparQ in Device Manager (go to SCSI adapters and double-click the Syquest Parallel Port Interface and enter the Settings tab) if you have a SyQuest SPARQ: /di If you are installing a scanner then run the configuration again. IOMega ZIP drive a) Go to Device Manager and enter the Properties for the Lava Parallel PCI. In the resources tab change the address to 0288 - 028F. (This address does not interfere with the sound card.) b) Reboot Win9x and run Guest95 for the Zip and it will find the drive.
